Every Heartscape is personally reviewed by an artist - not automatically generated. If we see an opportunity to create a stronger final piece through a different crop, composition, background, or image selection, we'll recommend it before production begins.

Focus on Your Pet

The clearer your pet appears, the better the finished artwork.

For the best results:

✓ Eyes in sharp focus unless you are going for a different focus like the nose-focused picture below

✓ Good natural lighting whenever possible

✓ The entire face visible (unless intentionally cropped)

✓ High-resolution images whenever available

Avoid:

✕ Heavy motion blur

✕ Deep shadows covering the face

✕ Screenshots or low-resolution social media images when the original photo is available

Don't Worry About the Background

The background in your photo doesn't have to be perfect.

Busy rooms, furniture, leashes, fences, people, or other distractions are usually not a concern. During our refinement process, we can remove or replace backgrounds entirely, allowing your companion to become the focus of the artwork. If you've selected a background replacement, we'll thoughtfully curate a setting that complements your portrait and artistic style. If you love the original background, we'll preserve it whenever possible.
